Blackheath Cricket Club

Blackheath Cricket Club was established on March 29, 1890, making it the oldest running Cricket Club in the Blue Mountains Cricket Association. During this time the club has recorded many premierships and also some historic moments, like the game that Don Bradman played for Blackheath against Lithgow, in 1931, to commemorate the opening of the new concrete wicket. In this game, which NSW state player Wendell Bill also played in, Don Bradman scored 100 runs off just three eight ball overs. Blackheath Football Club

Today, the Club has truly returned to Blackheath with training happening on the Blackheath Oval. It draws its players from as far afield as Wentworth Falls and the Newnes Plateau. With the revival of an all-age team, Blackheath is now represented at all levels of the Lithgow competition. All of our coaches have grass-roots certification, and a large amount of time is devoted to developing the skills and equipment required to learn, play and enjoy football.

Our club encourages the enjoyment of football and strives for good sporting conduct, fair play, and personal and team skills for all ages. You never know if one day a Socceroos player may have his or her beginning in Blackheath football.

Blue Mountains Croquet Club

Have you ever wandered past a Croquet lawn and thought, “How quaint!  I must try it some day.”  Well, it’s not like that at all and you should! You’ll soon discover the magic of mallet sports, whether it be Golf Croquet, Association Croquet or Gateball, all of which we play here at Blackheath.

Playing times

  • Golf Croquet on Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday mornings
  • Gateball (a faster, highly strategic team game) on Monday and Friday mornings or Sunday afternoons by arrangement
  • Association Croquet on Saturday afternoons by arrangement.

You can find our small but super-friendly Club at Clanwilliam Street, Blackheath (next to the Blackheath oval). Wear flat soled shoes. It’s fun, friendly and suitable for all ages.
